eShapeoko Update

Long story short, the 20×40 extrusion did not arrive on time, but, after a very long night, we managed to pack most eShapeoko kits and get them ready for the couriers. I have arranged for someone to be there for the couriers to collect the packages.

If you ordered a size smaller than 1000×1500, your kit is ready and will be collected by UPS, TNT or ParcelForce on Tuesday. I’ll email all of you tracking numbers soon.

If you ordered 1000×1500, I managed to pack only some of those before we had to leave for the airport.

I have just updated the status of the orders in the store. If you got email and your order status is now Complete, your kit will ship on Tuesday. If your order is still Processing, then we’ll ship your kit after we return in two weeks. I’ll email the few people affected to let them know, and to apologize.

eShapeoko Update

Everyone who has reserved a kit should have received an invitation email.  If you made a reservation and did not receive anything, please let me know (comment here, or use the store “Contact Us” form).

Please continue to use the reservation form while we fulfill these orders.  Once we’re done shipping the outstanding orders, the kits will be available from stock.

GAUPS 1.1

The GAUPS 1.1 boards have just arrived. They look good. They’re the same blue and gold colour as the 1.0 boards.

I need to assemble one, take photos for the instructions, test it, and update the instructions. I also need to order parts for them. With some luck, I’ll get the parts before the few remaining 1.0 kits sell out. I already have the longer lead time items, such as the Arduino headers; I just need the capacitors and the screw terminals.

MakerSlide and NEMA 23 Update

MakerSlide

Just spoke to the factory.  I am not happy.  They have not finished cutting our order.  They still have to do the 250 mm lengths and one other length.  They think they’ll be done by noon tomorrow, and they’ll call after that to arrange delivery.

NEMA 23 Motors

The shipping company have revised their invoice and I have paid it.  They will let me know the delivery date once they go through customs.

MakerSlide and NEMA 23 Update

MakerSlide

I just spoke to the fabricator. They have finished cutting our MakerSlide, so all that’s left is to arrange delivery. But they work short days on Fridays, and the person who can do that has already gone home. So, next week!

NEMA 23 Motors

The ship is in port and they’re unloading the containers. I got an incorrect invoice for customs charges, so I’ve asked them to amend it. That should not cause a delay, though. They expect to deliver the motors to us on Thursday.

GAUPS 1.1

We’re running out of GAUPS shields. I took advantage of this and I updated the design. It is now compatible with the Arduino R3 pinout: it takes power for the digital side from IOREF, not from the 5 V pin. For older Arduinos or shields, there are solder bridges on the back of the board to configure it for either 5 volts or 3.3 volts. The IOREF solder bridge (the default choice) is shorted by a cuttable trace.

The fourth driver can still be used as its own axis, or as a second driver on the Y axis. However, I have replaced the header and the two jumpers with solder bridges, pre-wired for dual-Y operation. To get a separate fourth axis, cut the DY traces and bridge the A pads. The savings from not including a header and a pair of jumpers that 95% of the users don’t need almost exactly offsets the cost of the R3 Arduino headers (four additional pins total).
